Talks with Babaji Sivananda in Varanasi
A long series of causalities, synchronicities, "sense-laden coincidences" or as like say, had to give so I finally meet Babaji and you were going to visit him over several years to Varanasi. Calle Ramiro writes.
He was a sadhu he used to sit day after day against the sacred Ganges, and whose presence anyone left indifferent. His eyes was surprisingly beautiful and eloquent and your sense of humor, contagious. We had the opportunity to talk too. These conversations have included in the book which has recently been published entitled Babaji's The mystery of the planet (Publishing ELA), that collects its more senses and inspiring thoughts. I include now part of some of these fruitful discussions.
Babaji It was a great being. He died almost three years ago, a few weeks after that did my beloved brother Miguel Ángel, that I traveled to Varanasi already in 1973, after a long journey through almost the entire India.
-Do not fear anything, Babaji? Not even the death? -I ask.
-Life and death are the same thing. Every day we die to be asleep and death is the day that we do not wake up. What you need to do is look at, observe quietly, without worrying. There is so much variety! It's all so strange! Includes, get yoga physical and not to worry. Don't worry even with death.
-I do much physical yoga.
-Physical yoga is great for securing the health of the body, but meditation is meditation.
-What can we do to this great mystery that is life, sometimes so terrifying?
-Stay calm - insists-. Do not worry. As you can see how many varieties, many species, so much multiplicity. Look, I look, I see... it's all so strange, so mysterious! I do not understand anything, I do not understand anything, everything is so mysterious! I don't know anything, but he knows everything. Such multiplicity!
-It is a great mystery - I Apostille.
-Only through inner experience, you solve the mystery. But don't worry if you never, not desasosiegues you, not disturbed you or trouble you. It is much easier said that done, of course. We all like the fingers of a great hand and have to connect with it. which in reality have never been disconnected. In this sense it is very useful and essential meditation. The heart of all creatures is the same, but since children we have superimposed codes, schemes and so the ego has been formed. And you know something? It is the ego which stands between yourself and the real thing.
Reminded me often:
-There is much dissatisfaction. You can not overcome it only with material goods. People are crazy. You have to train in fairness, in the balance. You have to see everything as if it were a film. Life is nothing, happens very quickly, a few days and it's over. We come to make us the photo and we will. But you have to be happy. I'm almost always happy.
-There is much greed, Ramiro, mucha - he told me. Politicians are trash, trash. The policy is a mess. Insatiable greed, Yes. But all have two brains: one sacred and one demonic. It should develop the sacred, which is forbearance, love and compassion. Love is the most important thing, the truly essential. Without love there is nothing, nothing, nothing. Meditation is the most direct way to be.
Very critical era with the imposters gurus. He said:
-So many fake gurus, who only think in making luxurious ahsrams, have large cars, say his ego. True Yogis never do ostentation, not voraciously seeking disciples, not to boast. There are so many fake gurus!
We have taken so many times the hands! So many times we have embraced us! He insisted me:
-Meditation is wonderful. Religions divide, create antagonism. The ceremonies not are important. There are many superstition, lot. What is really important is the meditation. There are many, many ways, but the best is the meditation. Physical yoga is very good for the body and energies, but meditation is the path to wisdom. Through meditation the mind empties for the connection with the supreme power.
He gave me a notebook with all your thoughts, which included under the title The mystery of the planet. Sometimes told me:
-More and more people's questions. People come and ask me, do you know? To which so many questions if what matters is love! Love is the answer to all questions. The love!
