4 Holy Island. Isle of Arran, Scotland
Where: Two kilometres of private island, next to the Isle of Arran, in the West coast of Scotland. Meditation retreat at the north end of the island (in a modest enclave pompously called the Center for global peace and health). Trails lead along much of the coast, and along a mountainous road, covered with grass, we can achieve nirvana.
You can learn: The Kagyu - School of Tibetan Buddhism - meditation, both for students who begin the most advanced in Tibetan Buddhism (the southern end of the island is home to a dozen of long-term residents, who live in isolated areas silence) and those who want to learn or deepen the practice. 5 Green Gulch Farm Zen Center. San Francisco, United States
Where: A space surrounded by eucalyptus forests to the North of San Francisco, to open Muir Beach and the Pacific Ocean. The 115-acre property includes several spaces for meditation and seminars (one of them with a large yurt) and a farm and organic garden, where guests can take part in workshops in organic farming, beekeeping, and edible plants.
You can learn: Buddhist meditation, Zen, traditional variety of silence known as zazen. Those looking for an intensive practice with a stay and work in the community for months are an ideal space and also those who wish to make more short stays, participating in the daily sessions of meditation, seminars or tea ceremony.

Be aware: It is mainly a residential centre for the serious students of zazen. There is a lot of formal instruction, only practice as road. Those who already have built-in meditation practice will be in glory. Without words and doing.

6. simple Peace. Assisi, Italy
Where: The ancient Umbrian city of Assisi, the hometown of San Francisco, in Monte Subasi, overlooking olive groves. Many meditation sessions are conducted at the Assisi Centre, a serene space type Vault near the Cathedral of San Ruffino (a former courthouse of the 12th century). Other meditation sessions are held at the nearby monasteries, and outdoor activities in the surrounding area.

Where: 200 acres of property, some of them wild, wooded rural surrounding an old and magnificent mansion in the center of Massachusetts. The main campus includes dining and accommodations. There is also a separate forest refuge located a few miles more in the field, for long retreats.
You can practice: Indian Buddhist traditions of vipassana (insight) and metta (lovingkindness) form the backbone of daily life in IMS retreats. In practice, it is a combination of sitting meditation and walking, all this in silence.
Rooms: In the main center of retirement, 79 soberly decorated rooms, doubles. individual and small rooms have two beds, chairs, pillows and blankets (each has to bring their own sheets and towels) and thermostats for temperature control. Shared bathrooms of style on each floor. Men and women do not share rooms and are usually assigned on different floors.
