Natalia Martin Cantero

Note that after reading Consciousness without borders Ken Wilber "a fascinating and unknown unexplored world opened". Since then, it has not stopped investigate, nourish and cultivate their own personal development. Clear light whenever anyone you named to the master Buddhist Zen, Thich Nhat Hanh or your residence Plum Village, place that has the luck of knows well.

In RTVE has a blog, "turned and turned", where shares stories about his stay in the country Asian and also can read it in the section of welfare & health of The country, He is this where various issues, among them, the practice of Yoga, the full attention or meditation.

Committed with the environment and with healthy lifestyle habits, he directs together with Ignacio Gros Simple life, a digital portal that offer different alternatives to simplify, share, and improve our lives.

When and how the yoga was installed in you?
Back in 2000. I think that with the yoga I happened unlike that to the most, that begins looking for more exercise that another thing, or relax is, and a time after discover the appearance more spiritual. To me I happened to the reverse. Orphan of tools for one greater connection, I felt very more significance and meaning, without thinking too much in that it also strengthened the body.

It is true that in San Francisco, understand yoga is different from the one we have here?
In San Francisco, you pick up a stone and you find a yoga Studio; there for all tastes. Yoga has a very commercial and competitive, is true. But it is also much more integrated in the society and there is a greater understanding.

I think, however, that each country or region filtered yoga through its culture. In Brazil, for example, one going to a yoga retreat and ends dancing and singing. Normal: the music is a fundamental component of the life of the country. Americans, for their part, are practical and ordered, among other things. This is also noted in its form to understand yoga.

If you had to choose three key people in your yogic way and three good reasons, they would be...
Marianne Linn, my first yoga teacher, that I practiced for six years, gave me - without me knowing it then - much of the keys that, later, I've been rediscovering here and there.

I did my first training in yoga with Laura Packer, champion of the vegetarianism in Brazil. Few times I have seen less distance between what one teaches and what one practice as with this woman.

Today day always recover the inspiration, even in the moments that most falters, when I speak with Inés Freedman, teacher of the Insight Meditation Center. Here in China not have sangha, so your figure is made especially important.

If not remember wrong, have taught classes of yoga in Beijing. How you live the yoga there? Do you have any anecdotes?
As I said, every people filtered yoga through its culture. My impression is that many Chinese (or, rather, Chinese, because most are women) do yoga because it is fashionable, is cool, and little else. Same could devote that time to play tennis, as they say. On the other hand, yoga in China (or, rather, in Beijing) is reserved for the elites, out of the reach of the vast majority. A class loose in the Studio where I teach classes out to near 30 euros. Who can afford that? (The average in this city salary does not reach the 600 euros). In addition to money, on the other hand, to attend a yoga class must have time, a scarce commodity such as the above. Therefore, the individual who attends yoga class is very particular.

One of the things that catch my attention comes at the end of the class, in Savasana. In general, students cuesta les horrors remain quiescent. It seems that they were lying about a Bush rather than a mat. When I arrived in this country, it had many stereotypes in my head. One of them, that the patience and the "Eastern" temple (another stereotype) would be maintained in some way in the spirit of the people. That is a surprise to find so many people so agitated, unable to concentrate for a moment, like attention deficit.

Lately, seems that there are those who prefer stay is only with the part physical of the yoga. You understand the yoga separate of the meditation?
Before was more fundamentalist; Today, I have no problem with purely physical yoga, but be aware that the table is, so to speak, take. In all modes, to me I costs find a "package" full that I convince. A teacher who it has everything. I prefer to choose from here and there, picking of each teacher, each style, what most convince me, making my own menu. I am not in favour of blindly following a style, nor of course to idolize any guru, as so often happens with disastrous results (the case of Anusara/John Friend is a good example). As I said I do not know who, it is important to keep the open brain, but not to drop to the ground.

In this stage of your life do you think more Professor or student?
Student will be always, even being a professor. It is when you learn more.

As a journalist, has devoted numerous articles to connect with the present e even mentioning several Buddhist teachers. When he began to be interested in Buddhism?
The spark that ignited my interest was the book consciousness without borders, of Ken Wilber. When it read by first time, in the middle of them 90, has opened a world fascinating and unknown by explore. A little after, in San Francisco, I was fascinated with Jack Kornfield and others master Buddhist, with the feeling of having found what during both time had State looking for.

Also, usually go to Plum Village (South of France), cuartel general of the monk Vietnamese Thich Nhat Hanh. Tell us a little...
When I go to Plum Village, recover confidence in humanity, life and at myself. I get a world of possibilities. It is a place that places, as the most natural and simple, every thing on your website. The neuro that drag in the day to day disappear as by charm. You realize that, in general, are nothing more than virtual reality, movies that repeat over and over again but do not have any consistency out of our head. It is a magical place, where the mind naturally leans toward honesty, kindness, compassion, love of life and happiness not subject to conditions.

In your digital portal Simple life We can read thoughts, articles and tips that invite you to stop for a moment and take an inspiration. Here you much of your vital concerns reflex?
Since then. Simple life It is an aspiration that I share with Ignacio Gros. As we noted in our ideals, we want to contribute our bit to accompany people wishing to be less competitive and more cooperative, be in peace with themselves and have more time to appreciate the little things.

Any recommendation to be more happy...
Tara Brach meditation teacher, to which I hear much these days, is often referred to the flood of "if at least" that surrounds us. From "if I could at least eat that chocolate ice cream, would be happy" to "if he at least managed to that job, would be happy". But then meet these conditions and what?

The idea that something is always interposed between happiness and the individual is a constant in our society. And cannot be otherwise: is at the very basis of capitalism, a sick system that may not grow up to devour itself same. It seems to me important to explore this and stop personal and also socially. While we are busy in these "if at least", we ignore what we have between hands. Be happy because Yes, no reason it apparent. That's revolutionary and transformative.
