Drugs and yoga / stories and reality / part 3

Drugs, legal or not, medical or recreational, not at all resolved or even pretend to resolve the tension in the person; what they do is cover it through the numbness or overstimulation. This is the third and last installment (see 1st and 2nd part). Joaquín G. Weil writes.

Drug pills

As a significant story to tell that the Dr. Pin van Lomel, famous researcher of the near-death (ECM) experiences, pointed out the DMT present in our body as the only plausible chemical explanation of the ECM. And not so much by the psychedelic effects of the substance and consequences behavioral after experience with the same: awareness, empathy, and serenity in everyday life, which also happens after the ECM. For its part, the literal meaning in Sanskrit of "amrita" is "not dead", and also in relation to the effects of consciousness of immortality which mentions the Rig Veda and that is collected in the testimonies of ECM.

The filmmaker Raja Choudhury He is the Director of the video released by the Indian Government on the occasion of the first international day of Yoga. In a documentary Conference entitled Soma: The Psychedelic Origins of Religious Experience Secunda the hypothesis that in a given moment of history, since the usual ingredients of the soma were exhausted or were difficult to find, some contemporary figures of the spiritual life of the India)Kapila Muni, Buddha, Mahavira, Patanjali and visionaries of the Upanishads) they discovered how to generate by themselves and will more DMT in their own bodies.

This can be a real sense of affirmation of Professor Somdev's find the soma within the self. And that, in theory, seeks through various techniques of pranayama, mudras and meditations yogic, as, for example, the of stimulus is also of the so called soma-chakra.

As the title of the Conference suggests, filmmaker Raja Choudhury continues to Gordon Wason and other authors in the opinion that the use of entheogens is at the origin of spirituality in various parts of the world, including the Neolithic West.

But I don't want to conclude yet here the affair, but to turn, that not by logic will perhaps be surprising. I so called entheogens (etymologically plants or substances that contain God) plants of wisdom nor transferred us a divine experience, or does not provide for themselves wisdom.

Of course we know numerous accounts of search engines that had a revelatory experience with these substances. But let us not forget the important detail: previously were engines. The encounter with these plants or active principles had been determined by a brave and sincere effort to inquiry and pursuit of wisdom.

We have some life experience also have known numerous tales of curious or unaware that they took these substances without just results, or with unclear effects or even nightmare, really reflection of his own confusion and fear inside, as it cannot be otherwise.

It is difficult to know why in the evolution of Indian spirituality was abandoned communion with the soma. What does seem likely is that if a Kapila, a Buddhaa Mahavira, or a Patanjali they had tested the soma, probably would have said something similar to what you said Neem Karoli Baba When Richard Alpert gave him the whole bottle of LSD: "And good?".

Classification of psychotropic substances

To conclude, we can establish a new classification of psychotropic substances as they generate adeccion or, conversely, progressively more difficult persevere with its use. As we said before, who generate addiction are entorpecientes, euphoric or sedating whose effect is cover tension and, in particular, not so much the pain as awareness of the pain: tobacco, alcohol, sleeping pills, hemp, antidepressants, and a long and sad etc.

Addiction is not so much by the substance itself, such as pain (immense occasionally) conceal that. All of these seek a "borrowed" effect which will then have to return sooner or later by way of awareness. (In this also, undoubtedly, can be useful yoga and meditation).

On the other hand, are those substances which increase mental clarity and awareness if prudent use, expertly guided and ordered them. Genuine indoiranios rituals soma is plausible that he belonged to this type. As awareness goes by clarifying, the challenge to continue under the trail becomes more difficult. They say that it is like parachuting. The first few times is easier due to inexperience. But as you were jumping more times, each time it originates more respect. Which is itself another good explanation of the historic abandonment of the use of the soma in India: its use was hard and difficult.

The attitude to both types of psychotropic substances is itself radically different. One person wants to leave or cancel the conscience (with this premise I think that would it even without substance or a simple placebo of means). And on the other, in respectful and aware person wants to further expand consciousness. I like that also will garner you same even without any substance.

That same respect is that feel a concentrated and attentive practice of yoga and meditation, that will lead undoubtedly to a greater wisdom to lead us in our lives, more love for the people with whom we live, better self-knowledge, development of all our strengths and virtues and union with God. In sum, out of the mists of the shadows and approach towards the light.
