Yoga and Tarot: the arcane language of the asana
The sense of the asana touches the essence of magic origin of Yoga. As with the arcana of the Tarot, the asanas have much more than what they are. 22 weeks will be presenting the arcane and his correspondence with asanas to end reflect on the sacred geometry of our body and its hidden language. Write this series Carmen Viejo.
Both exalt the physical benefits and look at the shape, the sense of the asana is lost. A sense that is meaning and touches the essence of magic origin of Yoga. Of the Hathayoga in particular, Mircea Eliade speaks of its archaic origin (placing it as "preupanishadico and even preario"), and underlines that it develops a Physiology not merely physical, but soteriological.
"The Hathayoga revive the archaic concept of the human body which can be deified" (Mircea Eliade).
Excessive commercialization and popularization, have attempted to suppress the initiation direction of the practice of Yoga. We forget that different asanas were used in the ancient lost civilizations to symbolize the mysteries of existence and the universe. The asanas are rites: a symbolic language that produces an experience where the Word does not come for each who understand by osmosis existential sense of the wheel of life and evolution.
Each asana is a ship which allows us to travel towards the dark by undisclosed matter and the subtlety of the simple, with its phases evolutionary, conscious or unconscious, that explain who we are, where we are and where we are going.
Health that seeks and searches for the Hathayoga is the harmony necessary to overcome temporary life and promote it to your array or divine source. Because Yoga said the possibility of divinity, in body and in soul.
Same as the 22 arcana of the Tarot, together with the spirit of the Pythagorean Numerology and the hermetic of the ancient Egypt, the asanas have much more than what you are. As they say the Yoga-Sutra: surpassing the effort and contemplating Ananta, or cosmic energy, merge opposites in the domain of the asana. This domain of our mortal nature reveals what is immortal. Then, sense comes in the form of footprint at the bottom of the subconscious mind, waking up gradually the memory of what sleep.
Says Mircea Eliade: "not been confused the Hathayoga with a simple technique of gymnastic and profane, because, although its fundamentals are strongly anchored in the physiology, their real results are only achieved through a Mystic Physiology. The force that defends the Hathayoga is not that of an athlete, but that of a magician, a divine being”.
Tarot realizes the crossing of existence, a double crossing, with a reading of temporal concerns, and initiatory readings, where life is the journey to knowledge and the origin. Similarly, the practice of Yoga can remain on the surface of some skill or lead us to the discovery of the hidden not understood, mysterious by not experienced, the esoteric by not shown in the external, and leak-proof for not having opened.
Serve this trip through the 22 arcana of the Tarot and its correspondence with various asanas, to reflect on the sacred geometry of our body and its hidden language.
