Pranayama: reunification of dispersed energies

Prana is the breath, energy, life force, and all the physical, energetic, mental and emotional functions could not take place without the Prana. It runs through energy channels and through the veins and arteries during the day and stops in the pericardium during the night. It is the first breath in the individual and will be when the last prana, to die, to withdraw from the body. In the common human being removed through the different holes, but in the accomplished Yogi Prana emerges for the suture of the head and merges with the universe. The great breath breathing like breath in the person.

We are like a battery power, a microverse or universe in miniature. The energy is basically acquired through breathing, but also through food, rest and sleep. If we intend, we can increase our life force, but also, by mistake, we can waste it.

Yogi plans to increase your vitality for power and put it to your internal search service and the realization of the self.

Consciousness is also energy and when one thinks, is said and is done with consciousness, it wins power.

This microverse which is the human being contains the same elements who are out: Earth, water, fire, air and ether. By means of the yogic techniques you learn to regulate them and harmonize them. Through the right action on Prana also balance phlegm, the temperature, the lymph and the air and even the more subtle elements are harmonized.

The balance is health; the breakdown of the balance is disease. The control of Prana helps the immune system, metabolism, nervous system and mind. There is an old definition of yoga which reads: "Yoga is the reunification of dispersed energies".

The source of Prana par excellence is the breathing. A breath suitable not only favours oxygenation, but the accumulation of Prana and therefore the better functioning of the body and the mind. Prana and mind are closely linked and why in yoga we say that the mind is the rider and breathing is horse.

We breathe of fifteen to twenty times per minute. We must learn to breathe slow and evenly. Bad breath is a thorn in the nervous system that shakes it; a regular breathing is a true balm.

So close is the interrelationship between the mind and breath, all State of mind creates a defined type of breathing and all sorts of flushing determined State of mind. Do not breathe as well when we are calm or anxious, tense or distended, preocpados or cofiados. And in the same manner as a State of mind distorts the breath, harmonica breathing promotes positive States of mind.

It has been said: "No hay Hatha yoga breath". It is inconceivable that there are teachers who offer classes of Hatha yoga without pranayama or breathing control exercises. Respiratory control is essential in yoga, because through it is conquered a State of very important mind called pratyahara or sensory retraction, which favors the fertile internalization and uptake of real nature hidden behind the ordinary mind.

Pranayama is an ideal medium to dissolve thinking and be able to access the I deep. The quiet mind arises when there is a suspension of breath, what we call in yoga kumbhaka or retention of the breath, which is intended to not only the grant psychosomatic health, but to open a passageway into the mind of deep and serene, well other than the chaotic and unstable surface, altered by attachment and hatred.

So important is pranayama or regulation and control of Prana which in ancient times was a so-called School of the pranavadins, that it worked tirelessly on the reunification of prana. For them no technique of Hatha yoga had real value, beyond the purely somatic, if pranayama is not practiced regularly.

So important is the issue that I have been investigating it since half a century ago and I'm writing a piece on the subject, collecting valuable testimony from mentors of yoga, such as Surinder Sing, Dharma Mitra, Victor Martinez Flores, Gustavo Plaza o Roberto Majano.

Given that nowadays many instructors show only a gradient yoga-fitness, or Hatha yoga is taught completely watery and blurred, No to pranayama, no attention because only searches the body acrobatics spectacular with positions which of itself is unnecessary and even more so if they are not supported with a session of pranayama.

We are basically respirantes creatures, is no exaggeration to say that by the conquest of the breath to the conquest of the spirit. Breathing, therefore not only to live physically, but to do it spiritually. The pranavadins were great experts in respiratory control, as the authentic fakirs were rasayani or fakirs of Inner Alchemy.

Meanwhile, continue to breathe, because the other option already know what is. Also should be remembered that Prana are also feelings, and that the good feelings we saturate Prana and the insane stolen us. If we are charitable with ourselves, better love to hate; better to be compassionate than cruel; better to be fair than a deseqilibrado. As the fish feeds, is born, lives, dies and reproduces in water, human beings do in the ocean of Prana. Prana is a treasure: not despilfarremos it.
