Homa, sacred fire ceremony

Homa

The life of a hindu, from birth to death, is marked by the samskaras or purificatorios rituals; that it served to protect the body and mind of physical and psychic ills. Samskara means 'a perfect Act'. These are the sacraments in Hinduism, highly beneficial, purificatorias and Holy ceremonies, that help the human being to remain in harmony with the metaphysical laws. They eradicated the bad karma and increase favourable influences of material nature. Its purpose is to advance peacefully towards the last existence, reaching the absolute, God.

Through rituals you can sanctify the relationship between parents and children, husband and woman, master and disciple, living and dead, Saints and God.
The samskaras reject the malignant influences of the visible and invisible worlds, and attract the blessings of Saints and deities.

The Homa or fire ritual It is also known as Hawan and Agni hotra. In the Homa not is it worshipped directly to the deity, but it draws a yantra (geometric figure) on the altar, representing the deity being worship. The Homa is accompanied of the singing hymns and Vedic mantras, offerings of ghee (clarified butter) to the sacred fire and mudras (gestures mystical).

There are two types of Homas. Ones are those that are made exclusively for the spiritual benefit of the people, and others for the well-being of a family in particular.

In the Homa can participate all kinds of people without distinction of creed, race or sex; only calls for maintaining a meditative and respectful attitude and follow the instructions of the Purohit (priest) to be part of the ceremony. This lot is generated from positive energy, purified mind, body and spirit. Culturally it will help us to better understand the historical and spiritual context of Yoga.
